01. Best Interactive Book: Touch, Feel, & Sound

Noisy Dinosaurs - My First Touch & Feel Sound Book

Touch and feel components for sensory exploration AND the sounds of dinosaurs. The book is interactive and sure to keep your toddler’s attention.

This book is perfect for toddlers who love dinosaurs. It has lots of pictures that you can narrate as you discover the textures and sounds together. The verbiage is simple yet informative for little ones who want to learn more!

If your child likes this one, there are more books in the series! Check out Noisy Things That Go, Noisy Farm, Noisy Animals, and more!

When you’re tired of hearing all the noises, there’s an on/off switch at the back!

02. Best Imitation Book: Make That Sound!

Hear Bear Roar

This book is full of bright, colorful illustrations and 30 different animal sounds! Learn about animals and where they live - in the trees, the sky, the jungle, etc.

This is a more interactive book for toddlers! While reading this book, your toddler can match the picture on the page to the picture on the sound button. Allow them to work on finger isolation and fine motor skills as they search for which button to push.

I like this book because it has short sentences for each animal, but many ways to interact together! Imitate the animal sounds. Label verbs and what you see on each page.

This book can be enjoyed for years!

03. Best Book for Learning Words: Get Toddlers Rhyming

llama llama yum yum yum board book

Llama Llama Yum Yum Yum

We love the Llama Llama board books! They’re great rhyming books for toddlers.

This book has short sentences to keep toddlers engaged. See if your little one can anticipate what comes next and finish the sentences!

Another way this book gets kids excited about reading is the scratch-and-sniff aspect! You can scratch and smell the yummy treats Llama Llama is making with his Mama!

04. Best Book & Toy Combo

Here We Go!

This is a book and a toy in one! If you have a toddler boy who loves cars and vehicles, this book is perfect.

It has a working steering wheel and different sound buttons to pretend you’re on a drive! Drive a car, a boat, a plane, and a train while having fun reading.

Books that seem like toys expose toddlers to literacy. They make reading more like playtime!

05. Best Book From The Classics: Goodnight Moon

Goodnight Moon

A classic in children’s literature that should be on every toddler’s bookshelf. Margaret Wise Brown uses short sentences and the occasional rhyme to lull children to sleep.

This is a perfect book to read before bedtime. Read and see what the bunny does before bed.

After you read, say goodnight to items in your child’s room. “Goodnight, teddy bear. Goodnight, blanket. Goodnight, light.”

I love that this book has remained so popular throughout generations! I read it as a kid, and now I read it to my little ones.

06. Fun for 18 Months+: Lift The Flap Books!

It’s Time to Fix It!

An interactive board book for toddlers with sliders and lift-the-flaps! It’s great for the toddler boy (or girl!) who loves to tinker and see how things work.

Your little one will fix items that are broken with some simple lifts and slides. Help paint, drill, and hammer things around the house.  Paul got this when he was 2.5 and he absolutely loved it!

07. For Your Budding Artist: Learn to Paint with a Book!

Mix it Up

Every page gets your toddler involved and engaged. Tap your finger, close your eyes, count to 5, etc.

But what really stands out is the colorful, abstract illustrations. Your toddler will follow the artist’s instructions on ways to mix different colors. They will use their imagination, too!

This book combines creativity, art, and literacy. The Eat Play Say Team loves all the books from this series!

08. Books with Movement: Yoga for Littles

Yoga Bug

We all know toddlers have lots of energy! This book is great to encourage reading AND get kids moving.

The Yoga Bug board book introduces children to 10 yoga poses - all named after bugs. While they’re moving and stretching, they can label different bugs on each page.

There are lots of verbs throughout the book to encourage movement and having fun together!

09. Best Book for Your Toddler Princess

Today I’ll be a Princess

The perfect board book for toddler girls who love dressing up and pretending to be princesses! Pair it with your dress up clothes and pretend play beauty items to make it more interactive.

I love the whimsical illustrations on each page. Did I mention the front cover has sparkles? Put on your princess dress, fancy shoes, and don’t forget the crown!

The end of the book teaches that while being a princess is fun, being yourself is even better.

10. Best Book for a Truck-Loving Toddler

Little Blue Truck

This is a book toddler boys will love with its engaging rhymes, cheerful illustrations, and a message about kindness and teamwork. And of course, it’s a truck!

The rhythmic text captures toddlers’ attention. The animal sounds and friendly characters make it fun to read aloud with your little one.

I love that this book teaches about helping others and working together in a way that toddlers can understand. While toddler boys might love the Little Blue Truck best, this book series is one of my favorites for any toddler!
